Patti Smith is hitting the stage in Melbourne to talk about her latest book

Patti Smith

It seems Patti Smith is going to be keeping very busy when she visits Australia in April.

After recently adding extra dates to her forthcoming Australian tour and revealing she will be joining Paul Kelly in conversation for Sydney Writer’s Festival, legendary musician and author Patti Smith has just announced she’ll also be hitting the stage in Melbourne to chat about her latest book, Year of the Monkey.

Published last year, Year of the Monkey is a tapestry of musings from Smith’s year of solo wanderings following a run of shows at the iconic Fillmore in San Francisco. Reflecting on age, mortality and America’s political landscape, Year of the Monkey is another poignant addition to Smith’s collection of written works.

Presented by Melbourne literary institution Readings, A Conversation With Patti Smith will see Smith joined by longtime rock journalist, author, record producer and guitarist for her own band, Lenny Kaye, to discuss her latest book.

A Conversation With Patti Smith comes to The Athenaeum Theatre on Monday April 20. Tickets are on sale now via Readings
