Alt-rock three-piece Tetsuians have unveiled their sophomore album, Elephant Hexagon, a mix of fuzzy rock and shimmering, indie-pop.
Hailing from Melbourne and the Sunshine Coast, Tetsuians’ far-flung members bring a taste of their respective music scenes to their second record, melding sunny surf vibes with gritty, indie rock.
Having begun working on the record in December last year, the three-piece completed Elephant Hexagon across closed state borders amidst this year’s ongoing lockdowns and COVID-19 restrictions.
Comprising ten tracks, including their recent singles ‘Pack a Little Bag’ and ‘Bloody Chieftain’, the album reflects the band’s fluid sound as its three members share vocals and weave between shimmering guitar melodies and smoky distortion.
Lyrically, Elephant Hexagon explores everything from mental health to an uncomplimentary review the band once received and the reality of life in the defence force, with each track displaying the trio’s clever, critical and cheeky approach to songwriting.
Taking inspiration from a spread of influences ranging from Sleater-Kinney to Stevie Wonder, ensuring no two tracks are alike, Tetsuians’ second album sees them push the boundaries of their dynamic, chameleon-like sound to create a dimensional body of work.
