Woodford Folk Festival drops huge 2019 program

Lime Cordiale

If you still haven’t nailed down your plans for New Year’s, Woodford Folk Festival has just dropped a killer lineup for its end of year celebration that might sway you.

Showcasing more than 1,600 shows across 25 stages, this year’s program boasts an eclectic collection of live music, workshops, talks and experiences taking place over the festival’s six days.

Leading the bill, Kasey Chambers will make her Woodford debut alongside the likes of Emma Louise, whose set will focus on her album Lilac Everything, and Amanda Palmer, who will stop in as part of her There Will Be No Intermission tour.

You can also expect to see performances by Lior, who will deliver a live rendition of his album Autumn Flow accompanied by a band and strings section, as well as Horrowshow and The Herd who will head a 21st birthday party for Elefant Traks.

In addition to a huge slate of festival newcomers, Woodford will also welcome returnees such as Kate Miller-Heidke, Harry Manx, Electric Fields, and Archie Roach who will perform alongside Paul Grabowsky.

That’s not all, either. The massive lineup also features the likes of Harry James Angus (The Cat Empire), Lime Cordiale, Ngaiire, Tia Gostelow, Jeff Lang, This Way North, Dyson Stringer Cloher, Sahara Beck, Boban Markovic Orkestar, The Brother Brothers, Brighde Chaimbeul, Elephant Sessions, Blair Dunlop and Monks of Tibet.

Not only does Woodford’s music lineup tick all the boxes, but they’ve also curated a terrific program of speakers and panel discussions, including Dr Karl, Leigh Sales interviewing Michael Gudinski, Dr Bruce Lipton, Kerry O’Brien with Noel Pearson, and Rhoda Robers.

This year’s festival theme is ‘Imagining a Beautiful Future’ and looks to inspire punters, organisers and artists to combat the negativity surrounding our planet’s future.

“We don’t want to inspire false hope, but together, if we can imagine a brighter, more promising future, we’ll make one,” says festival director Bill Hauritz.

“It’s through these artists, their spirit, their words and their passion that we can together, discover our beautiful future. We truly hope that this year’s programme inspires, excites and challenges all of our patrons the way it does us.”

Woodford Folk Festival is happening from Friday December 27 until Wednesday January 1. Tickets are on sale now.
