Tunes & ‘Tails #2 The Shelbyville and Dr. Colossus

Cocktail:  The Shelbyville

Tune:  Shut Up and Eat Your Pinecone by Dr. Colossus

You know what they say – when life gives you lemons, make a freakin’ cocktail. For this edition of Tunes & ‘Tails we’re featuring our favourite citrus sipper, The Shelbyville. It’s a little sweet, a little sour, but all-round delicious. You shouldn’t need to commandeer Flander’s RV to whip this one up, seeing as you can pretty much buy lemons anywhere. But hey, we’re not your mum.

So what music could possibly complement such a drink? While a rendition of See My Vest is an appealing choice, turns out Melbourne is already home to a band that fits the bill. We simply couldn’t go past the Simpsons-themed doom band, Dr. Colossus. Shut Up and Eat Your Pinecone is an ode to Kamp Krusty, and just one song of many that pays homage to the residents of Springfield. Other tracks include Stupid Sexy Flanders, Made to Love You and Excellent. The result is an ample collection of stoner rock bangers that would even have Otto slapping his knee.

So don’t have a cow, man. Sit back with a Shelbyville in hand and quench your musical thirst with some quality Melbourne tunes.
