The conference will lead conversations around recovering a more sustainable post-COVID music industry.
Following the recent news that BIGSOUND 2020 will be presented as a free digital event, the annual music extravaganza has revealed its first keynote speaker announcement.
Leading conversations around the future of the post-pandemic music industry, the conference will feature a range of Australian and international artists to shed light on various challenges facing the industry and how to navigate them.
Heading the first keynote speaker announcement is musician and activist Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, Prophets of Rage and the Nightwatchman, who will take listeners on an in-depth exploration through his life and career.
BIGSOUND 2020 will also host a slate of special in-conversation sessions and keynote speeches from the likes of Kev Carmody, Ziggy Ramo, Amy Shark, Tones and I, Rhoda Roberts and Mumu Fresh, exploring topics such as the Indigenous future of the music industry, community and survival in 2020 and more.
As well as hearing from musicians, the conference will also look to I OH YOU Founder Johann Ponniah and tour and production manager and founder of CrewCare Australia, Howard Freeman for their insights on different aspects of the industry.
The second keynote speaker announcement and full program schedule for this year’s BIGSOUND will be revealed at the end of September.
“BIGSOUND 2020 is the perfect opportunity for the music community to come together and take stock of where we find ourselves both nationally and globally after the last six tumultuous months” said Conference Programmer Tom Larkin.
“Featuring some of the most prolific Keynotes we have ever programmed, the conference itself will lead conversations around future facing concepts that are brave, nuanced and shine a light towards recovering a more sustainable industry,” he added.
