The show will feature performances by nine mothers singing songs about motherhood, supported by a “backing band of subordinate fathers – The Mothers Little Helpers”.

The artists performing include the likes of Rebecca Barnard, The Little Stevies, Angie Hart, Sophie Koh, Lucy Dwyer, Celia Church, Barb Waters, Kerri Simpson, and Venue Director Will Ewing’s own mother Marie Ewing.

Von Goes presents the JVG Radio Method on Triple R every Sunday from 2pm to 4pm. The show is known for being “a personally biased, segment laden, thematically blended hotchpotch”. It’s been a regular instalment at the community radio station for years, and features regular guests such as Ian Bland, Kerri Simpson, Davey Lane, Dr Pump, Angie Hart, Emma Heeney, Barb Waters and Craig Pilkington, Charles Jenkins, Dave “The Accordion Monster” Evans, and Sarah Carroll.

According to von Goes, his yearly Mother’s Day show is his “favourite show of the year”. With 2020’s Mother’s Day quelled by the COVID lockdown, the importance of this year’s occasion cannot be understated.

Before the gig gets underway from 5:30pm at The Brunswick Ballroom, JVG will be launching into his regular slot at 2pm.

JVG’s Mother’s Day Show goes down on Sunday May 9 at The Brunswick Ballroom. Grab tickets here.
