The winners will be revealed later this month.

This year’s APRA Music Awards are just around the corner and on the back of the recent announcement that the ceremony will take place virtually for the first time ever, the full list of nominees has been revealed.

The APRA Music Awards encompasses 15 categories in total, spanning the Most Performed Works across various genres as well as Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Song of the Year and more.

Tones And I leads this year’s APRA Music Awards shortlists with four nominations, with ‘Dance Monkey’ up for Most Performed Australian Work, Most Performed Pop Work and Peer-Voted APRA Song of the Year, as well as being in the running for Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year.

Hot on her tail is The Teskey Brothers with three nominations, including Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year and Peer-Voted APRA Song of the Year and Most Performed Blues and Roots Work for their track ‘I Get Up’.

Thelma Plum, Hilltop Hoods, Birds of Tokyo, Dean Lewis, Phil Barton, Lindsay Rimes, Troy Cassar-Daley, Sarah Aarons, KIAN and Jerome Farah are all nominated across two categories each while the likes of Ruby Fields, Ziggy Alberts, Dom Dolla and Ruel are all nominated for the first time ever.

“If ever there was a time to acknowledge the work of songwriters – both those on stage and those who work quietly behind-the-scenes – it is now, which is why we have committed to the 2020 Virtual APRA Music Awards,” said APRA AMCOS Chief Executive, Dean Ormston.

“Our songwriters give us so much – they contribute enormously to our economic and cultural wealth, and in a world of self-isolation, never has the comfort, poignancy, or uplift of a song been more important. The nominees provide a ready-made #AussieMade playlist of fantastic music. We look forward to celebrating their success, as part of our support of all Australian music creators. ‘See’ you May 26,” he added.

The 2020 APRA Music Awards will be live streamed on Tuesday May 26. Head to the APRA AMCOS website to see the full list of nominees.
