The historic grandeur of Hawthorn Arts Centre’s hall goes groovy for TEK TEK Ensemble

TEK TEK Ensemble take their eclectic inspirations, such as late-night discos and shamanistic desert rituals, to the elegant acoustics of Hawthorn Arts Centre.

The ensemble captivates their audience with exclamatory trumpet, hedonistic violins and organs, deeply pulsating drums and bass, wild psychedelic electric guitar and synth with richly harmonized vocals.

After forming in 2010 TEK TEK Ensemble have performed countless times all around Australia and now bring their non-stop party vibes to Hawthorn Arts Centre. The danceability of ‘60s disco beats and cabaret-style seating will tempt the audience to their feet at the one night only event.

The charismatic sextet includes Melbourne musicians Paul Dornau on guitar and keys, violinists Esther Henderson and Sophie Dunn, Charlie Woods on trumpet, Dave Williams on bass and James Thompson keeping the party rhythm on drums.

The band has roots in the wildness of late-night Melbourne pub music, and at the same time the sophistication of jazz and classical performance.

With allocated cabaret-style seating in the main hall, this glamorous show is approximately one hour and 50 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission. The Boroondara Arts bar will be open.
