Sun Cycle Festival to return in 2021 at a new location

Featuring Mildlife, CC:DISCO!, Wax’o Paradiso and more.

After a successful debut at Coburg Velodrome on New Year’s Days 2020, Sun Cycle Festival has announced its 2021 return. Going down on Saturday January 30 at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, the special second iteration of the festival will feature a diverse and exciting lineup of local acts.

Encompassing soul, jazz and electronica, Sun Cycle 2021 will bring CC:DISCO!, Mildlife, Wax’o Paradiso, C.Frim, Izy and Sophie McAlister with Northside Records’ Chris Gill to the stage for a day of dancing under the summer sun.

Next year’s event will focus on the enduring struggle for First Nations and BIPOC people, featuring a special Welcome To Country and with the festival itself serving as a statement against racism.

“We dance on land that was forcibly taken from Aboriginal people. We will mark the day with a significant Welcome To Country, a moment we encourage all of our patrons to engage with and reflect on,” said the festival organisers.

“The messages of equality and sustainability will be a common-thread through not only our lineup but the environment we come together in.”

Having proven itself an exciting addition to the local summer festival scene with this year’s event, the return of Sun Cycle Festival looks to be more than welcomed by Melbourne music lovers.
