SBS pulls the plug on ‘RocKwiz’

But that doesn’t mean it’s the end.

After a 14-year stint, the SBS has confirmed that beloved music program RocKwiz has come to an end, much to the sadness of music fans nationwide.

As TV Tonight reports, SBS channel manager Ben Nguyen confirmed the SBS has pulled the plug on the show.

“The decision we’ve made is that it is time to call an end to RocKwiz after a long success on SBS,” Nguyen said.

RocKwiz host Julia Zemiro confirmed the news yesterday evening on Twitter.

“While disappointing I must celebrate their vision a decade ago to give us a chance in the first place. We were the little ship that could. And did,” Zemiro said.

RocKwiz had strong ties to the Melbourne music scene, with episodes filmed St Kilda’s Espy hotel. While no new shows will be airing, SBS Viceland will run old episodes regularly and the team are still heading to Arts Centre Melbourne for their Really Really Good Friday show on Friday April 19.
