Paul Kelly, Ben Folds and Tina Arena are performing at this year’s Melbourne Writers Festival

Ben Folds

Let’s get literary.

A huge slate of homegrown and international musicians have been locked in for the Melbourne Writers Festival’s music program, kicking off at the end of the month.

US singer-songwriter Ben Folds will be touching down in Melbourne to perform the tunes that shaped him and his career, while DRMNGNOW, Birdz, The Merindas, Soju Gang and DJ KYAANZ will be presenting a special Nocturnal event at Melbourne Museum. What’s more, Miss Blanks will be hosting a panel alongside other nightlife personalities and organisers to discuss underground after-hours experiences and engaging with audiences.

As part of the festival’s beloved Duets series, Paul Kelly will be having a chat with Cold Chisel’s Don Walker about his career. Other pairings include Tina Arena and Deborah Cheetham, Felix Riebl and Thando, and Georgia Maq and Angie McMahon. Of course, all of these events include performances from the guests of honour.

The Melbourne Writers Festival runs between Friday August 30 and Sunday September 8. For tickets head to the festival website.
