Rock legends Patti Smith and Dave Matthews Band announced for Bluesfest 2020

Patti Smith

Some incredible alumni are making their long-awaited return to Byron Bay.

Even though it wrapped up literally four months ago, Bluesfest is already sharing who’s going to be making appearances at its 31st event.

Headlining Bluesfest 2020 will be none other than US rockers Dave Matthews Band. This will be the band’s third appearance at Bluesfest, but don’t expect more of the same: DMB are known for shaking things up on the stage and no two songs are ever alike.

After three years, punk queen Patti Smith will be returning to Byron Bay. Her previous performance at Bluesfest earned her the Helpmann Award for Best International Contemporary Concert. The announcement comes ahead of Smith’s upcoming memoir, Year Of The Monkey, hitting shelves in September.

In an exclusive Aussie performance, New Zealand rock legends Crowded House will be the third act to headline Bluesfest next year. Festival organisers say this gig kicks off a new chapter in the band’s career.

This is just the first lineup announcement for next year’s Bluesfest, and heaps more acts are expected to be unveiled in the lead up to April.
