A special Industry Awards event will precede the flagship Music Victoria Awards night.
The Music Victoria Awards has announced a new format in 2020 that will see the occasion split across two separate events. For the first time in the Awards’ history, a livestreamed Industry Awards night will precede the flagship Music Victoria Awards with the events taking place on October 8 and December 9 respectively.
The first of the two celebrations will see Music Victoria’s 2020 Hall of Fame inductees honoured while seven of the 21 industry-voted awards will be announced. The event will be hosted by longtime Awards MCs, RRR’s Chris Gill and PBS FM’s Lyndelle Wilkinson, and will be broadcast via Music Victoria’s YouTube channel.
Open to the public for the first time ever, nominees, families, friends, fans and Music Victoria members will be able to tune in from 8pm on Thursday October 8 to see the recipients of the inaugural Outstanding Woman in Music Award and Best Producer Award revealed.
Previously-recognised accolades such as Best Regional and Outer Suburban Venue (under 50 gigs per year), Best Regional and Outer Suburban Venue (over 50 gigs per year), Best Venue (under 500 capacity), Best Venue (over 500 capacity) and Best Festival will also be announced.
As a special treat for viewers, each of the two 2020 Hall of Fame inductees will be commemorated with an intimate live tribute performance on the night and to cap off proceedings, Music Victoria will also lift the lid on the nominees for the remaining 14 industry-voted awards.
Following the Industry Awards, online voting for the seven public-voted awards will be open – the likes of Best Album, Best Band, Best Song, Best Solo Artist, Best Musician, Best Breakthrough Act, and Best Live Act awards to be recognised with the help of the public.
