Prepare yourself for weeks of delicious food, exciting performances and independent art displays.

The Victorian Government has announced plans for a huge new winter festival when White Night and Melbourne International Arts Festival merge in 2020.

The exact dates are yet to be confirmed, but next year’s festival will span several weeks and boast a diverse range of cultural and arts events that’ll swarm Melbourne’s famous laneways and venues.

This announcement means that 2019 is the last year that both White Night and Melbourne International Arts Festival run as separate events. White Night will take over Melbourne from Thursday August 22 to Saturday August 24, while Melbourne International Arts Festival will run from Wednesday October 2 to Sunday October 20.

“This bold new winter festival will build on Melbourne’s standing as a global cultural capital, showcasing our local artists and bringing our cultural arts institutions to life,” said Victorian minister for creative industries, Martin Foley.

Programs for both events are set to be released in the coming months.
