Iggy Pop announces new album ‘Free’, drops brand new track

Iggy Pop

Iggy, but not as you know him.

Godfather of punk Iggy Pop has revealed his next album, titled Free, will be released in early September. It’s the first album by Iggy since 2016’s Post Pop Depression.

To keep fans satisfied in the meantime, he’s released the title track from the LP.

The record itself has been described as “uniquely sombre and contemplative” and will feature collaborations from Noveller and Leron Thomas. Iggy said the upcoming release is noticeably different from his previous work, partially due to feeling drained after touring.

“By the end of the tours following Post Pop Depression, I felt sure that I had rid myself of the problem of chronic insecurity that had dogged my life and career for too long,” he said in a statement.

Iggy Pop’s upcoming album Free will be released Friday September 6.
