Herbie Hancock and The Middle East announced as part of Vivid LIVE 2019 lineup

From the same minds that brought you Solange, Goldfrapp and Morrissey in years gone by.

Vivid Sydney has dropped its 2019 program for Vivid LIVE, with a huge bunch of contemporary and veteran acts.

From Friday May 24 — Saturday June 15, Vivid LIVE takes over Sydney’s biggest stages in celebration of contemporary music and culture. The program includes massive concerts and special projects throughout the city. This year features exclusive performances on every Opera House stage surrounded by spectacular harbour views and waterscapes (Hey Siri, play ‘Drowning Man’ by The Cure).

To make things juicier, the Vivid LIVE 2019 lineup includes rare appearances from acts currently on hiatus (three cheers for The Middle East), and co-commissions with world-class arts and cultural institutions. As already announced, headlining the festival are British alt-rock group The Cure, performing their album Disintegration on its 30th anniversary in a world premiere and Australian exclusive.

World famous Chinese-American filmmaker and artist Andrew Thomas Huang will also transform the Sydney Opera House sails with Austral Flora Ballet, accompanied by music from artist Kelsey Lu, which will whisk you away to a multi-sensorial realm inspired by Australia’s native flora. When it’s the Sydney Opera House with a lineup reveal, you can bet your bottom dollar it will ooze style.
