Cherry Bar announces plans to leave AC/DC Lane

The end of an era.

After calling AC/DC Lane home for almost two decades, Melbourne’s Cherry Bar is set to make the move to a new address.

Cherry Bar co-owner and booker James Young shared the news on the venue’s Facebook page this morning. He assured Melburnians that he intends to “take the name, the staff and the sticky carpet to a new Melbourne address with a long lease and a safe and secure future for live local music and late night rock ‘n’ roll revelry.”

The Cherry Bar team is currently spoiled for choice, revealing they’re in talks with ten venues across the city as they search for a new home.

“THIS is how we are saving Cherry,” wrote Young. “By moving Cherry … Change or die. We have to move. But up until 31 March 2019, for just TEN MORE WEEKS, we invite you to come and party for the last time in AC/DC Lane Melbourne at your Cherry Bar.”
