Bruce Springsteen has a new album on the way

The Boss is back.

It’s been five years since Bruce Springsteen last gave us a studio album, though it seems we won’t have to wait much longer for new music with the legendary singer announcing a new record scheduled for release this June. The album, Western Stars will serve as Springsteen’s 19th record across an illustrious 40-year career.

Western Stars boasts 13 tracks, each an exploration of the desolate corners, lonely highways and open deserts of America and the assorted characters which wander those spaces. Recorded primarily in his home studio in New Jersey, the album features no less than 20 guests on strings, horns and pedal steel, amongst a vast range of other instruments.

With 20 Grammys, an Oscar and a Tony under his belt, along with his recent critically acclaimed Broadway show Springsteen on Broadway which sparked its own Netflix special, it seems Springsteen isn’t content to rest on his achievements. While the range of his talent spreads far and wide, The Boss will be returning to his roots with Western Stars.

“This record is a return to my solo recordings featuring character driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements,” says Springsteen of Western Stars. “It’s a jewel box of a record.”
