October and November bring an awkward lull between the end of classes and the dreaded Christmas family catchup. It might be time to get away while you can.

If you’re needing a quick, cheap place to escape to, we’ve got you covered. Just a hop across the pond lies Bali, a fave tourist destination amongst Aussies. With white sands and crystal clear beaches, the island is the perfect getaway in the warmer months before you have to return to the mundane aspects of everyday life.

So whether you need to #findyourself or just get some extra Instagram fodder to feed your adoring fans, we’ve joined forces with Expedia.com.au to bring you some of our top finds for places to stay in Bali.

Stay in a bubble on the beach

Why the hell not? Bubble Hotel Bali lets you sleep under the stars in a literal bubble. Outside of the mysterious orb lies a stunning beach and space to set up a campfire for those colder nights.

This spot is ideal for those really looking to bring back a story to tell once they get home, or maybe to confuse a few friends who are scrolling on your timeline. Just don’t try any funny business; who knows who’s watching from the outside.

Relax deep in the jungle

Be at one with the lush nature Indonesia has to offer at the Hanging Gardens of Bali. Infinity pools peek over the jungle cliffsides, allowing for a breathtaking look into the vast scapes of the island’s less built-up areas.

But it’s really what’s on the inside that counts. The deluxe hotel rooms offer everything a traveller could ever need, and it only takes one step before you’ve entered the wilderness again.

Get the Bali treatment at Uma Karan

If you’re looking more for a trip on a budget, Uma Karan offers the fundamentals for every young traveller heading to Bali.

Relax with a good book by the pool with a drink from the poolside bar. Vibrant plants dangle over the crystal clear waters and spacious rooms will make you feel right at home.

It can be a maze out there, so Uma Karan also offers a shuttle service to get you to and from the airport.

Seek out the Pearl of Trawangan

If the Gili Islands aren’t included in your itinerary, they definitely need to be.

While you’re there, stay at the Pearl of Trawangan. The hotel sits right at the edge of the island’s coast and really takes advantage of it. Lie in the shade under one of the hotel’s gazebos or take a dip in the idyllic ocean waters.

Inside the hotel, you’ll find luxurious suites and an outdoor pool encrusted with candles. This resort is definitely for those looking to spend a little more dosh on their trip.

Get up close and personal with the wildlife

What is a classic tourist trip without seeing the local fauna? At the Mara River Safari Lodge, you won’t need to venture far.

This hotel has an in-built African safari and marine park, where rhinos and zebra roam around the joint. In many ways, you’re getting a bang for your buck by travelling to two places at once.

In addition to saying hello to your new foreign, furry friend, be sure to swing past one of the hotel’s restaurants for dinner. This place is perfect if you need to bring any little ones along with you.

Be at one with nature

Sometimes it’s good to get out of the city and see what else is out there. For the adventurers among you, The Menjangan is the perfect base camp.

The Menjangan is a resort situated between the pure beaches and island jungle. Travellers are able to experience the best of the wet and dry land. Between snorkelling and riding horseback down the beaten track, you’ll be seeing the sights missed by most tourists.

Don’t sweat the small stuff

Sometimes it’s not about the fanciest or the quirkiest spots. Just because you might be on a budget doesn’t mean you can’t have an experience to remember.

New Kuta Hotel offers vast outdoor spaces for sunbathing and swimming. Sit by the pool, grab a coffee at the cafe or take advantage of the hotel’s complimentary gym. If you’re travelling by yourself, being able to take things slow gives you new life and a deeper appreciation for the little things in life.
