Yarra Valley Water issues contaminated water warning for 88 Melbourne suburbs

Residents are advised to boil tap water before consumption until further notice.

Yarra Valley Water has issued a contamination notice for 88 Melbourne suburbs following damage from last night’s storms which caused undisinfected water from Silvan Dam to enter the water supply system.

Residents have been advised to boil tap water before drinking, use for food preparation, brushing teeth, or anything else that would lead to ingesting the contaminated water, until further notice. Consuming the water without boiling it first may lead to gastro-like symptoms.
