What’s going to win the Hottest 100 and what deserves more votes

Paying homage to the underappreciated bangers.

Voting for Triple J’s Hottest 100 this year has officially closed and it’s safe to say the vast majority of Aussies will be sinking a tinnie or two as the countdown rolls on. While it’s easy to spot the Hottest 100 winner a mile away, there’s always an angry mob willing and waiting to proclaim the songs that take out the top picks don’t deserve it — or worse, “it should’ve been ‘Horses'”. This year, we’ve beaten you to it.

Here’s what we think is going to nab the top spots this year:

  1. Confidence’ by Ocean Alley
  2. ‘This Is America’ by Childish Gambino
  3. ‘Dinosaurs’ by Ruby Fields
  4. ‘I Said Hi’ by Amy Shark
  5. ‘Losing It’ by Fisher
  6. ‘Sicko Mode’ by Travis Scott
  7. ‘I’m Good’ by WAFIA
  8. ‘Groceries’ by Mallrat
  9. ‘Mantra’ by Bring Me The Horizon
  10. ‘Be Alright’ by Dean Lewis

Here’s what won’t receive enough votes, but definitely deserve more:

  1. ‘Talking Straight’ by Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever
  2. ‘Girls on the TV’ by Laura Jean
  3. ‘Body’ by Julia Jacklin
  4. ‘Danny Nedelko’ by Idles
  5. ‘Wide Awake’ by Parquet Courts
  6. ‘When You Die’ by MGMT
  7. ‘Sticky’ by Ravyn Lenae
  8. ‘Fuckin ‘n’ Rollin’ by Phantastic Ferniture
  9. ‘Native Tongue’ by Mojo Juju
  10. ‘Pristine’ by Snail Mail
