Watch Kate Miller-Heidke perform alongside the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra next week

Words by Kate Streader

A match made in heaven.

As part of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s Thursday Night (in) with the Symphony series, the awe-inspiring 2017 collaborative concert between MSO and Kate Miller-Heidke will be screened in full next week.

Performing compositions from her award-winning opera The Rabbits, as well as a selection of her hits, all accompanied by the extraordinary musicality of the MSO, the concert is truly something to behold.

A classically trained vocalist whose eclectic catalogue encompasses pop, folk and opera, Miller-Heidke makes the perfect addition to the MSO. Accompanied by visuals from Australian artist and filmmaker Amy Gebhart and her partner Keir Nuttall on guitar, it’s an all-encompassing experience.

“Kate is one of the most talented and significant singer/songwriters Australia has ever produced. Her advanced musicianship and unique skill as a composer enable her to not only move freely between musical styles, but to transcend genre completely,” said conductor Benjamin Northey.

“Kate is a true artist and I’m looking forward to reliving this concert from home with my family,’’ he said.
