Voice for Change unveils empowering new exhibition

Finding its home at the Immigration Museum.

In partnership with the Immigration Museum, Voice for Change has announced an exhibition to run alongside the initiative’s existing documentary series. Voice for Change is a Victorian Government supported program from Mushroom Group which aims to empower young people to use their voices to initiate positive change.

The launch of the Voice for Change exhibition showcases an inspiring collection of photographs and stories from a diverse range of musicians and athletes. The exhibition outlines how some of Australia’s biggest names in music and sport have overcome discrimination and other social issues in a bid to inspire others to follow suit.

Since its launch, VFC has shared the stories of artists and athletes such as Ngaiire, Krown, Ecca Vandal, B-Wise, Remi, Darcy Vescio and Majak Daw. The initiative shines a light on issues like racism, marginalisation and disenfranchisement and shows positive outcomes for young people who may be experiencing these problems. Not only does VFC present these narratives through the lens of film, but there are also workshops in place to provide a creative outlet for young people.

VFC has extended opportunities to high schoolers to perform and receive mentorship from industry professionals, amounting in the Voice For Change Next Gen hip hop collective who have since released the original track ‘BE’. The track has also been featured on Double J.

Voice for Change is open until Sunday May 19 at Immigration Museum. For more information, head to the Voice for Change website.
