Six minutes of bliss from the Melbourne group.

After releasing ‘Stretch’, the second single from their forthcoming album Momentum, just last week, Melbourne funk-jazz six-piece Sunnyside return with a film clip for the new track.

‘Stretch’ is a six-minute aural excursion led by super smooth sax and an infectious beat. A fusion of disco, soul, funk, jazz and everything in between, the predominantly instrumental track will swaddle you in its warm embrace as you’re taken on a sonic journey you won’t want to disembark.

Having recently performed a string of gigs across Japan, including two sets at Fuji Rock, the video clip for ‘Stretch’ documents the band’s international tour. Grainy bites of footage show the band backpacking their way through Japan’s backstreets and grooving onstage to a full-capacity crowd at the mammoth music festival, encapsulating the heart and spirit of the down-to-earth sextet.

In the lead up to the release of Momentum, Sunnyside will live up to the album’s title with a slot at Happy Wanderer, which is going down between Friday November 1 and Monday November 4 in Benalla, as well as a headline slot at Queen Victoria Market as part of Melbourne Music Week on Wednesday November 20.

Momentum is due for release on Friday November 29 via Mind Detergent Records, pre-order a copy here. To keep up with new music and gigs, head to Sunnyside’s Facebook page.
