Video Premiere: LOV3SICK’s ‘One More Time’ delves deep into a post-breakup psyche

LOV3SICK
Words by Ashley Diamantis

With a sound inspired by The Cure, Joy Division and Placebo.

Only forming in November of last year, Melbourne-based dark wave band LOV3SICK have released their latest track and video, ‘One More Time’. The track explores the downfall of a relationship through frontwoman Lauren Santalucia’s eyes.

‘One More Time’ mixes elements of post-punk and new-wave to create a new and distinct sound. The unique track acts as a teaser of what’s to come in LOV3SICK’s upcoming EP, set to be released later this year.

Bass and drums underpin the drive and energy of the song, while the melodic guitars and synthesisers work together to create a colourful atmosphere. The melody line is juxtaposed with the lyrics that detail the thoughts experienced by someone following a breakup.

The accompanying music video is set in a Fitzroy bookstore. In an interview with Beat, Santalucia says she wanted to use the bookstore as a symbol for the first chapter of the concept EP. The bookstore is also filled with metaphors for the smaller narratives going on within the clip.
