Eric Bibb and Chris Cain each kick off their respective tours this month.
Australian blues fans are in luck; on the back of a mammoth 2019 Bluesfest just gone come a pair of exciting national tours from two of the genre’s stalwarts.
Two-time Grammy-nominated bluesman Eric Bibb is set to bring his latest album, Global Gringo, to our shores this month. An acoustic blues legend, Bibb has released 37 albums since his debut in 1972. He’s also performed for Nelson Mandela and alongside the likes of Jools Holland and Charlie Musselwhite. Propelling the genre into a contemporary space, Bibb has even received a tip of the hat from original Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd who famously said Bibb is “what the blues in the new century should be about”.
If that’s not enough to tickle your fancy, Chris Cain is also set to make his way around Oz this month. With a style built on electric Memphis blues, the multi-instrumentalist has built an internationally recognised reputation for himself across his 12-album discography. Dubbed a great guitarist by B.B. King and nominated for Male Blues Artist of The Year at this year’s Blues Music Awards in Memphis, Cain is a formidable figure in the blues scene.
Both Bibb and Cain are set to kick off their tours next week, each visiting a sprinkling of venues across Australia.
