Trouble in a Monochromatic Town

Trouble in a Monochromatic Town

A lush and gritty program inspired by a palette of shifting drones, acid house music, Dada and reminiscences of Schubert.
Heavily featuring New York-based composers at the boundaries of contemporary classical, jazz and electronic music, the program includes works by Florent Ghys, Missy Mazzoli, Pascal LeBoeuf and Nico Muhly. In contrast, meditative sound worlds from further afar are brought by Parisian pioneer in French composition, Nadia Boulanger, and Estonia’s Arvo Pärt, who sits in a genre of his own.

The Tempo Rubato bar will be open from one hour before the concert.

Tempo Rubato is a live classical music venue at 34 Breese St, Brunswick. All proceeds go to the Piano Project, a charity who provide free piano lessons to children who have recently immigrated to Melbourne.
