Start working on your masterpiece.

Triple j Unearthed have announced a new competition for all the musicians currently stuck in self-isolation. Titled DIY Supergroup, the competition is giving entrants the chance to cook up fresh tunes featuring the likes of Tame Impala, Flume, Tash Sultana, The Jungle Giants, Middle Kids, Amy Shark, Tkay Maidza and G Flip.

Each of the aforementioned artists have recorded samples and loops for entrants to use, including a guitar loop by Kevin Parker and drumming by G Flip. All you have to do is download the sample pack and get to work on your own original track.

To be eligible for the competition, you have to use at least three artists from the sample pack – though how you choose to incorporate them into your masterpiece is totally up to you. Triple j have also flagged that while these samples and loops are free to download, you’re only allowed to use them for the purpose of this competition – so don’t go throwing them on your band’s next single.

To go in the running, simply upload your track onto triple j Unearthed with the hashtag #DIYSupergroup. The finalists will then be announced on triple j brekkie with Sally & Erica, with the winner’s track to be played across triple j and Unearthed.

DIY Supergroup is open now until May 17. Find out more and download the sample pack here.
