This national campaign is raising awareness for mental illness among roadies

With roadies experiencing a shockingly high rate of suicide contemplation, a group of volunteers have banded together to put on fundraising events all over the country.

Roady4Roadies will be carrying out day-long events in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide next year. The campaign includes a five-kilometre walk, live performances, family-friendly activities and competitions between road crews.

The statistics which have motivated Roady4Roadies come from a Victoria University study which found roadies considered taking their own lives approximately nine times more often than the average person. The cause of this disproportionately high stat often comes down to a lack of sleep during tours and the inability to grow relationships outside the industry.

All proceeds raised from Roady4Roadies will be sent to Support Act, an Aussie charity that supports music workers.
