If you couldn’t get enough of HBO’s Chernobyl, you might be interested in seeing the real thing for yourself. Melbourne photographer p1xels has unveiled an exhibition that uncovers the aftermath of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
The walk-through exhibition, titled Alpha Beta Gamma, features a range of photographic works from the site ruins, including the exclusion zone. The exhibit showcases how nature is gradually taking over the abandoned landscape, which is estimated to be uninhabitable for 20,000 years.
In addition to photographic works, light, sound and dodgem car displays inspired by the ruins add an extra dimension to the tragedy that took place.
“I wanted to create an experience that allows people to see and feel what it was like inside the exclusion zone,” said p1xels.
“It’s an immersive space that will challenge the senses.”
Alpha Beta Gamma runs between Friday August 9 and Friday August 16 in a secret Melbourne location. Entry is free. For more info, head to the Facebook event.
