Iconic US rockers The Velvet Underground have pressed The Complete Matrix Tapes on vinyl for the very first time. Fans are able to preorder the box set now and expect to have it by Friday July 12.
The collection of live recordings come from the band’s residency at San Francisco club the Matrix in 1969, specifically from shows held on November 26 and November 27. A bunch of the recordings set for release on vinyl have been mixed down directly from the original multi-track masters, so you know you’re getting the real deal.
The eight-LP box set comes with 43 tracks — including 18 tracks from a super deluxe edition of their self-titled album and nine previously unreleased performances — and goes for a mere $199.98 USD (roughly $285.00 AUD).
