Nervous flyers need not apply.

You might reconsider booking that trip to Europe once you step foot inside this deeply unsettling multi-sensory experience set in a plane.

The production, simply dubbed Flight, is the second installation of the Darkfield series, a collection of dramatic experiences that take place inside a huge, 40-foot shipping container in total darkness. Inside the shipping container, audience members (or passengers) stow away their baggage, take their seat and experience a plane trip in pitch black. Needless to say, this one isn’t for the faint of heart.

Flight combines binaural sound — the practice of recording with two microphones at ear-height to give the sensation of 3D sound when played back — in addition to movement and sensory deprivation to manipulate the audience’s perception of what’s going on.

Darkfield: Flight kicks off at Southbank’s Queensbridge Square between Wednesday October 30 and Sunday December 8. Tickets are on sale now via darkfield.com.au/tickets
