Add a splash of colour to your weary winter.

The National Gallery of Victoria has revealed that the works of iconic French painter Pierre Bonnard will cover the gallery walls next winter in an exclusive world premiere.

Presented in partnership with France’s Musee d’Orsay, the 2020 Winter Masterpieces exhibition will feature roughly 150 paintings, drawings, photographs and early cinema pieces from the beloved artist, created between the late 19th and early 20th century. Bonnard’s catalogue is celebrated for its vibrant use of colours to evoke emotions.

In addition to the impressive collection of Bonnard’s works, the NGV has commissioned designer India Mahdavi to design the exhibition’s scenography. Mahdavi’s singular approach to colour palettes will complement Bonnard’s colourful pieces and keep punters entranced.

Pierre Bonnard is running at the NGV between Friday June 5 and Sunday October 4, 2020. For more info, head to the NGV’s website.
