It’s been a whole ten years since the once described “non-threatening garage-rock connoisseurs”, The Naysayers, released their roughly self-recorded sophomore EP “Dee Eye Why” to moderate fanfare and lukewarm acclaim.
Drawing generously from sixties era garage and surf rock, “Dee Eye Why: Or how we lost all our money and decided to record it ourselves” featured six tracks produced with no budget and little know-how. The result was an EP which, ironically, became one of the groups’ most successful.
The Naysayers will be celebrating this milestone with a show on Saturday July 8th at The Catfish (Fitzroy).
The record will be performed in full, with some old favourites, covers and a few surprises thrown in for good measure. A limited number of re-issued cassettes and “Dee Eye Why” related merchandise will also be available on the night, as The Naysayers attempt to milk this event for all its worth.
Joining them, as usual, are old friends and hard-rock stalwarts Honeybone, as well as “special guests”, which is of course industry speak for “we haven’t booked an opener yet”.
