The Espy reveals first live show in two years

St Kilda’s favourite music watering hole has re-emerged from the dust to announce a special live show. It’s news that went largely under wraps, however, it is accurate, it isn’t a fake and legendary Aussie punk rock outfit X will be bathing in the glory.

For what proves to be a momentous and equally emotional occasion, the famous Gershwin Room will be centre stage. Support slots come courtesy of Nick Barker’s The Heartache State with Spiderbait’s DJ Whitt be manning the decks.

According to the Facebook event, “It’s a new lease of life for St Kilda’s most iconic pub. The old girl is in great hands and this is your chance to relive your fond memories and have a glimpse of the future,” organisers said.

The Espy has endured a tumultous two-years since its last show in 2015 – forced to overcome obstacles in planning objections, renovation approval and refurbishments, which ultimately culminated in a change of ownership.

Let’s hope this announcement marks the birth of new era for The Espy’s music landscape.
