The Avalanches are celebrating 20 years of ‘Since I Left You’ with a virtual listening party

Hosted by The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess.

The Avalanches’ plunderphonics opus Since I Left You is turning 20 this year, and to celebrate, the Australian dance icons are throwing a virtual listening party with The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess next Sunday.

The listening party is set to kick off around 7am on Sunday April 25 on Twitter, with the hashtag #timstwitterlisteningparty being used to take part. It’s not the first listening party of this nature that Burgess has hosted: he’s also recently covered records from Oasis, Blur and The Libertines, with members and music fans tuning in to share memories and experiences with significant releases from the past.

Although the record doesn’t actually hit 20 until later this November, we still reckon the party is a premium excuse for everyone to tune in and look back on the eternal genius of Since I Left You. It’s rare that an album can sample from such an eclectic pool of records and still sound so unique even 20 years after its release.

Last month, The Avalanches shared their new single ‘Running Red Lights’, which features Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo and rapper Pink Siifu – listen to it here.
