There’s even a secret guest on the bill.

To celebrate four decades as Australia’s biggest free live music festival, St Kilda Festival is going all out for 2020. Bringing over 50 acts to its various stages, the festival will showcase some of the hottest talent in the country.

The Main Stage will feature a slathering of Melbourne’s favourite acts, including Cash Savage and The Last Drinks, Kylie Auldist, Stonefield, The Kite String Tangle, Port Royal and Busby Marou. Not to mention, as a 40th anniversary treat, there will be a secret special guest performer whose identity will be revealed on Friday January 31.

As always, the program is as diverse as it is impressive, with both emerging and established artists encompassing a range of genres set to hit the stage across the day. From Press Club to Gordon Koang and The Black Sorrows to Mama Kin Spender, St Kilda Festival 2020 has it all.

Not only does the festival look to please the tastes of any and all music lovers, it will also host a spread of workshops, community group activities, carnival rides and food and market stalls to keep attendees of all ages and interests entertained.

The fun doesn’t stop there, either. As an homage to its inaugural event held in 1980, this year’s St Kilda Festival also comes with a dress code: iconic ’80s trends. Think acid wash, leg warmers and loads of denim.

It’s going to be a doozy.
