Some of Australia’s best musicians are heading on a cross-country road trip

Up The Guts sees a bunch of musicians cramming themselves into a bus and hitting the road for a music tour like no other. The festival has released its lineup for this year which sees some Guts veterans returning, as well as some first timers. Jack Parsons of The Pretty Littles, Jo Syme of Big Scary and Joe Alexander of Scott & Charlene’s Wedding will all be returning for another year on the bus. They’ll be joined by newcomers Dumb Punts, Loose Tooth and Neighbourhood Youth, for a cracker lineup.

The Guts tour bus will be heading from Victoria to the Northern Territory, stopping in 18 regional towns to perform along the way. The tour aims to allow the musicians involved to experience the cultural and geological differences in the regional areas it covers, as well as giving them a glimpse at the music cultures in the isolated areas they will visit.

The tour will kick off with a show at The Tote on Thursday August 10 before the bus heads north, visiting the likes of Warrnambool, Coober Pedy, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek along the way before finishing up in Darwin on Sunday September 3.

The tour will also involve school workshops hosted by the organisers and performers, with hopes to reach over 1000 young Australians across the country. The workshops will focus on performing, the music industry, and how to best utilise modern musical equipment and technology.
