If it’s a unique cellar door experience which tickles your fancy, look no further than Yal Yal Estate.

The stunning vineyard is nestled in the small town of Merricks on the Mornington Peninsula, situated in between Flinders and Hastings – a region famous for its incredibly delicious cool climate wines.

Established in 1997, the vineyard is tucked away in a valley amongst Merricks’ rolling hills, about a five-minute drive from the coast. Emblematic of most Peninsula landscapes, the vineyard’s scenery is impeccable – think sprawling vines surrounded by 20 acres of untouched bushland, teeming with native animals and birdlife.

Liz and Simon Gillies launched the Yal Yal Road label in 2010, working with renowned winemaker Rollo Crittenden (of Crittenden estate fame). Yal Yal focuses on low yield, single estate chardonnay, rose and pinot noir that reflects the unique character of the estate’s terroir.

Liz and Simon also work with carefully selected Mornington Peninsula vineyards to source fruit for their pinot gris.

Launched in March 2021, the Yal Yal Estate Cellar Door offers a unique opportunity to visit the vineyard and sample Yal Yal’s premium wines. In the colder months, you can cozy up indoors and let your taste buds do the exploring.

Better yet, you can enhance your tasting experience by pairing Yal Yal’s fine wines with delicious food platters showcasing local Peninsula produce.
