Sadly, the final night of celebrated Melbourne nightclub Lounge is here

And other electronic music news.

This Thursday April 18 is your last chance to say goodbye to Lounge, the final farewell party is kicking off at 10pm, after 29 years of operation. On board for the night is a crew of beloved Lounge veterans, including DJ JNETT, Dave Pham, Luke McD, Ransom and no doubt a few surprise guests will be popping up for a final spin. I think it goes without saying you’ll need to get there early for this one.

Last week, Berlin ‘ethical’ streaming platform Resonate, ushered in v3.0 of their software and technology. The system proposes a ‘stream-to-own’ model, that’ll see users paying what they might pay to buy a track via traditional downloadable services over 9 streams. Additionally, Resonate have a proposed solution to the ongoing problem of royalties in remixes, using blockchain technology. Essentially, producers would be able to attach blockchain IDs to track-stems – i.e. a vocal performance  that would have them credited and compensated proportionately when used in an official remix. Pretty snazzy. There’s a lot more they’ve got planned too, check it all out at www.resonate.is.

One of the kings of deep underground Berlin techno, Vril, has announced his return to Melbourne, appearing at The Sub Club for Loading_Error on Friday May 3. Vril’s live-sets in the hallowed halls of Berghain are the stuff of legend, and his last local appearance at the 2016 instalment of Inner Varnika still renders the festival goers into a state of gushing enthusiasm. On support duties will be a cracking local lineup including Hyper Binary b2b PWD, Nat Salih and Different Shades. Tickets are on sale now.
