Last week, Berlin ‘ethical’ streaming platform Resonate, ushered in v3.0 of their software and technology. The system proposes a ‘stream-to-own’ model, that’ll see users paying what they might pay to buy a track via traditional downloadable services over 9 streams. Additionally, Resonate have a proposed solution to the ongoing problem of royalties in remixes, using blockchain technology. Essentially, producers would be able to attach blockchain IDs to track-stems – i.e. a vocal performance – that would have them credited and compensated proportionately when used in an official remix. Pretty snazzy. There’s a lot more they’ve got planned too, check it all out at www.resonate.is.
