Rock The Boat Benefit For Asylum Seekers

The independently organised benefit gig will give its proceeds to Adam Bandt’s 2013 election campaign and the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. The evening will feature the swinging soul of The Basics, the twisted pop of ’90s band Snout (who are reforming especially for the occasion), MC and producer Joelistics and local heroes Even. Spicks and Specks’ Alan Brough will host the evening and interview the Greens member for Melbourne, Adam Bandt, live on stage.

The event will make some noise for the millions of Australians who believe the harsh treatment of asylum seekers must end. Organisers are hoping to get at least 284 people to the gig (that’s one for every 30 asylum seekers in detention as of Friday May 31, 2013) and hope to raise at least $10,000.
