The annual independent film festival will showcase over 100 films for its 23rd iteration next month.

Perth’s annual Revelation International Film Festival returns on December 9 with an incredible program celebrating independent filmmakers from all over the globe.

Marking its 23rd year running, the festival will showcase over 100 films including features, documentaries, shorts and Western Australian content.

While locals will be able to attend a selection of physical events, the rest of us can tune into this year’s screenings through REVonDEMAND, the festival’s online streaming platform. Running online until December 20, this year’s incredible selection of films has something for everyone.

Opening with Firestarter, a film documenting the story of Sydney’s Bangarra Dance Company, the program will proceed to take viewers around the world with its eclectic program.

Journey to Istanbul and roam the streets of the Turkish city with Stray, a documentary following the lives of three stray dogs, or join Kai Smythe (Hairy Soul Man) and his musical partner Tim Mager as they seek inspiration for their new comedy show with a trip through Asia and India.

The thought-provoking program reflects on a slate of topics, from unpacking sex-positivity and ethically produced porn in Morgana to exploring the new generation of smart phone addicts in Save Yourselves.

And on the music and arts fronts, you’ll find an abundance of treats with the likes of Lydia Lunch – The War Is Never Over, a career-spanning documentary capturing the groundbreaking Lydia Lunch, and My Rembrandt, offering a glimpse at the cut-throat world of international art.

Presenting provocative, intriguing and eccentric independent cinema from around the world, this year’s Revelation Film Festival is sure to delight.

Revelation Perth International Film Festival is happening online from December 9-20. Head to the festival website for the full program and tickets.
