Performing Please Leave Your Light On, his 2020 collaborative album with acclaimed pianist Paul Grabowsky.

The legendary Paul Kelly has just announced a special show at Melbourne Recital Centre that will see him team up with acclaimed pianist and jazz king Paul Grabowsky.

The duo will be performing their new album, Please Leave Your Light On, from the Elizabeth Murdoch Hall – a space that will heighten the record’s stark intimacy while also celebrating a stunning partnership that’s only enjoying its first strides.

12 tracks long, Please Leave Your Light On reworks songs from Kelly’s vast catalogue, with Grabowsky’s piano virtuosity breathing new life into the beloved tracks. With guitars, drums and backing vocals stripped away, Kelly’s voice is presented in a whole new light – suddenly, listeners are privy to another side of the acclaimed Australian songwriter.

Going down on Saturday November 28, Kelly will then return to the venue on Tuesday December 8 alongside renowned author Jaclyn Crupi and the Recital Centre’s book club, Bookmarks, for an online discussion centering around his remarkable 2019 anthology, Love is Strong as Death. which shines a light on Kelly’s extensive poetry collection.

Both events will be streamed online – the gig on Tikstream with the Q&A set to be broadcast via Zoom.

Paul Kelly will appear at Melbourne Recital Centre for two upcoming online events – a gig on Saturday November 28 and Q&A on Tuesday December 8. Grab tickets here.
