Screening the likes of Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Mad Max right off the bat.
Yesterday, we revealed that Cinema Nova would be reopening from June 22 to coincide with the announcement that from 11:59pm on June 21, the State Government will “allow indoor cinemas, movie theatres, concert venues, theatres, arenas, auditoriums, stadiums to open with up to 50 patrons per space”.
But even before the Carlton institution opens its curtains, the beloved Coburg Drive-In will be turning on its lights. From Wednesday June 3, the newly refurbished outdoor cinema will be screenings both recent releases and old classics and return to a nightly schedule.
It will be one of the only cinemas in the state to be open when it does. On night one, it will see screenings of Bloodshot, Reservoir Dogs and The Invisible Man take place. On Thursday June 4, Bloodshot and The Invisible Man will again be screened. From there, the likes of Mad Max: Fury Road, Pulp Fiction, Cats and Sonic the Hedgehog will be shown in ensuing days.
The diner will also be open with a cap of 20 people allowed in while you can also order snacks through the Coburg Diner Air Service app. Your snacks will then be delivered to your car.
The Drive-In holds 900 car spots so there’s plenty of room but you better be quick because everyone’s itching to get out and about and tickets will sell fast.
Check out the screening times and purchase tickets via the Village Cinemas website.
