Otao Kitchen’s gift vouchers are perfect Chrissy present for the aspiring cook in your life

words by august billy

It’s time for a cooking masterclass.

Anglo-Australians are often heard bemoaning the utter dearth of culture that stems from our lineage. Nowhere is this more apparent than in our culinary traditions. Fairy bread? Pavlova? Lamingtons? Vegemite?

It’s hardly enough to prompt tears of homesickness, and we can’t even lay claim to at least a couple of these items. But in Melbourne, we’re the true beneficiaries of our city’s multicultural demography, which is celebrated at the Richmond cooking school Otao Kitchen.

Founded in 2014 by Vietnamese chef Ha Nguyen, Otao brings students into contact with various local and international chefs, through whom they’re able to explore the exotic diaspora of Asian and around-the-world cuisine.

Otao offers a range of gift vouchers, which can be used to participate in the cooking classes of the receiver’s choosing. Otao delivers masterclasses in cuisines such as Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Korean, Greek, Italian, Spanish and Mexican, as well as wide range of online classes.

There are also a number of more specialised options such as the vegan cooking masterclass, the pizza making party and our personal favourite, the dumpling party.

Purchase an Otao Kitchen gift voucher just in time for Christmas via the school’s website.
