Offering theatre, markets, workshops and more, Gasworks Arts Park might be Melbourne’s most versatile venue

On Saturday March 27, Gasworks will host their Tasting at Gasworks event.

The rich and vibrant history of Gasworks Arts Park dates back to 1872 when the South Melbourne Gasworks was built on the site, providing more jobs than anywhere else in the district.

What used to be a site for producing domestic heating and fuel for cooking is now the southside hub for artists, performers and actors to showcase new works and performances.

Such is the versatility of Gasworks, the space is also home to the popular Gasworks Farmers’ Market and a number of other pop-up events, including Tasting at Gasworks – a day of beverage masterclasses, cooking workshops, tasting sessions, food trucks and more.

Going down on Saturday March 27, Tasting at Gasworks will host diverse and independent alcohol operators, offering award-winning gins, boutique wine, original cider recipes and barrel-aged beers in the process.

There will be heaps of dedicated food and beverage sessions, highlighted by a gin tasting masterclass hosted by family-run Melbourne distillery Here’s Looking at You Kid, a wine and cheese tasting session courtesy of Wine Selectors and a cider and cheese tasting session with the legends at Darraweit Valley Cider.

With live entertainment going down throughout the day, and plenty of other festivities in store, Gasworks will be the place to be come late March.
