As Victoria prepares for another brutal day today, with scorching temperatures and strong winds set to worsen bushfires in parts of the state, Wangaratta-native Nick Cave and his Ballarat-born collaborator and friend, Warren Ellis, have pledged $500,000 to aid bushfire relief efforts.

In a post on Instagram, Cave announced he and his Bad Seeds bandmate will contribute half a million dollars to aid the communities and wildlife affected by the fires sweeping the country.

“We are pledging $500,000 to some of the many organisations carrying out selfless and courageous work aiding and supporting communities and wildlife who have been hit by this overwhelming devastation,” wrote Cave on Instagram. “We urge everyone to do whatever they can to help.”

Cave and Ellis join a huge slate of musicians doing their part to raise funds for bushfire relief services, including Mac DeMarco, Lizzo, Julia Jacklin, Courtney Barnett, Elton John, and many more.
