There’s a new Whitney Houston biopic on the way, to be titled ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’

I wanna feel the heaaaaaaaaat!

Whitney Houston fans – your wishes have been answered because a special Whitney Houston biopic is on the way, set to be titled I Wanna Dance With Somebody. You read right, American record producer and executive Clive Davis is working on a film dedicated to Nippy, one of the music’s most celebrated and successful artists.

Not only has Houston been cited as the most awarded female artist of all time but she remains one of the best-selling music artists in the history of music with more than 200 million records sold worldwide.

The biopic, made in partnership with the Whitney Houston Estate, will be directed by Stella Maghie while the likes of Anthony McCarten (Bohemian Rhapsody), Pat Houston (Whitney’s sister-in-law), Larry Mestel (Primary Wave Music) and Denis O’Sullivan will make up the producing team.

“From all my personal and professional experience with Whitney from her late teenage years to her tragic premature death, I know the full Whitney Houston story has not yet been told,” Davis said in a statement. “I am so glad that Anthony McCarten has committed to a no-holds-barred, musically rich screenplay that finally reveals the whole Whitney whose vocal genius deeply affected the world while she fiercely battled the demons that were to be her undoing.”

This biopic comes after a documentary on Houston was release in 2018, Whitney, alongside an unauthorised biopic in 2015. Houston will be made a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2020 alongside Notorious B.I.G, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, T. Rex and The Doobie Brothers when this year’s class is honoured at a ceremony on November 7.
