Multiple acts revealed for Woodstock’s 50th anniversary

Some fresh faces join the heritage event.

A handful of acts have been revealed in the lead up to Woodstock 50, prior to the full lineup being unveiled.

According to Billboard, The Killers, Chance the Rapper, Imagine Dragons, Dead and Company and Santana have all been enlisted to bring the iconic ’60s festival back to life. These acts were revealed prior to the lineup being announced because, as Billboard reports, rumours began to spread over the financial viability of the festival. Woodstock 2019 isn’t being organised by a major promoter such as Live Nation, so agencies representing high-profile artists tend request the payments upfront for security reasons.

The rumours that there would be a Woodstock 50th anniversary event were confirmed in early January 2019. Overseen by the original festival organiser Michael Lang, Woodstock 50 will be held on Friday August 16 and Sunday August 18 in New York, similar dates to the original. The full lineup is expected to be released in two weeks.
