The product of a songwriting expedition in Iceland, Golden Moment is deep, moving and utterly beautiful.
Having spent the past decade and then some touring around the world and supporting the likes of Gotye, Missy Higgins, Clare Bowditch and Tommy Emmanuel, Melbourne singer/songwriter Mijo Biscan reveals his debut LP at last.
A collection of 11 tracks, each encompassing the human experience and minimalist, elegant melodies, Golden Moment sees Biscan’s stunning vocals and poignant lyrics soar.
Travelling to Iceland for a month-long songwriting retreat, Biscan experienced a creative shift that made way for Golden Moment. Nestled amongst the mountains in a remote cabin, the isolation saw his reflections on existence and purpose come to life through song.
“It was dead quiet. Shockingly quiet,” said Biscan of his Icelandic adventure. “In the midst of silence, the only thing I could hear was my innermost thoughts waiting to manifest into new songs.”
From existential ponderings and contemplating mortality to musing on the power of love, Golden Moment will resonate with any listener.
Last year saw Biscan reveal a glimpse of Golden Moment with the release of singles ‘You’ve Got Your Life’, ‘That’s So Pretty’, and ‘We’ve Got The Numbers’, each met with shining praise. Next month, he’ll introduce the album in full when he launches it live at Northcote Social Club.
Mijo Biscan will launch Golden Moment at Northcote Social Club on Sunday February 9. Grab your tickets here.
